WinAmp nostalgia on Linux with Qmmp

Date: 2019-12-31

Recently I started to notice that one of my favorite streamer uses Winamp when he streams. Apparently it still exist. I also remembered the times when I used it, very long time ago. And honestly Elementary OS Music while looks nice, it handles a little weird for me. What I don't like is that there seems to be no volume control for it, which is weird, I don't think I have ever seen a music player without one.

Anyway, installed Qmmp from repo. An older music player that can handle old Winamp 2.x skins. Getting skins are harder, since the original player is very old. If you search for it, you can find it, I have found it in the Internet Archive on archive.org. This page has a bunch of them.

Qmmp even knows the "double size", when the UI grows 2x.
