Cop Bastard is an indie retro shooter, in the style of 80s Japanese action movies. You are playing a detective, going against the Yakuza. Simple controls, bullets fly all the time to the point, that you sometime have to retreat and think about your next movie. You can shoot into walls, furnitures, and pieces of them are flying off, while enemies taunt you.

Demo has one level, it took me ~25 minutes to finish and I enjoyed every minute of it. Graphics is more like an old VHS style, which fits it very well, considering the era.

What really shines is the gunplay. We have 4 guns in the demo already (pistol, shotgun, Uzi, Magnum), all four is very solid, and has valid use. Pistol shoots fast, and precise, shotgun is good short-mid range, Uzi is effective against 2-3 guys extracting their blood, while Magnum can be a single shot sniper, slow, but one shots everyone.

There are plenty of pistol ammo to start with, and we can pick up ammo or guns from enemies. As for the environment we are in a standard office building and we have to get out. There is no map, but the layout is straightforward, whichever door opens that's the way. Luckily there is no health regeneration, instead we have good old fashioned health packs.

Controls are not changeable for the demo, so standard WASD for moving, mouse for shooting, H for taunt and numbers for switching guns.

So far, I love the atmosphere, perfectly capsulating the style of these movies, with bullethell, and plenty of environmental damage. I wishlisted the game, as it matters on Steam for many smaller devs, and excited to see what's next!
