Movies ever day in May: Extraction
What is this?

Date: 2023-05-10 | Watched: 2023-05-09

Chris Hemsworth is playing a mercenary guy, in a movie written partly by the Russo brothers (famous for the Community series) and directed by a stuntguy. Closest thing is probably John Wick.

One druglord kidnaps a rival's child (between India and Bangladesh), and through an agency, Tyler (Chris Hemsworth) got the job, most likely because nobody is that crazy.

Extraction is a solid action movie, although it has still some stupid scenes when people are crashed by cars (which they really shouldn't survive).

Tyler also has a lost child, which just complicates his behaviour, when his boss offers him an out, by leaving the kid behind. He says know, even the chances are very slim to get out. It's surprising that the movie slow down sometimes, giving our characters some rest times, and time to connect.

It had a satisfying ending, but not surprisingly a sequel will be released this year, and I don't know why. Why can't we end things nicely.

I have to say that 25 year old Ronin, is an amazing spy-thriller movie, and it has an ending, with a mystery that was never answered, and it shouldn't be.
